Recorded Direct-to-PCM on the 10th and 11th of May, the Felix Mendelssohn Opus 13 A minor String Quartet and the Claude Debussy Opus 10 G minor String Quartet are performed stunningly by Joel Link-violin, Bryan Lee-Violin, Milena Pajaro-van de Stadt-viola and Camden Shaw-cello, recently named the Poseidon String Quartet, from the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, USA. It is immediately evident how deeply the group feels the work. With every bow stroke they telegraph the joy of music as well as the smooth cohesion and communication within the group.
Realizing that only a portion of people are able to pass 24bit/192kHz, FLAC files for this album are available in both 24bit/192kHz and 24bit/96kHz so that this special experience can be accessible to more. The movements of each work remain unedited, though the intact individual movements were those chosen as the best from the session, then cut together.
We set out with intent to design something unique, organic, not cookie-cutter; to capture the intimacy of chamber music, and in someplace other than a concert hall environment. Upon first encounter, this may be an experience other than typical.
