The Church Song Variations |
This unique work from The Karp Segall Experiment was influenced by melodies that guitarist JD Karp played in church. The melodies are then performed in the typical semi-acoustic alternative jazz improvisational environment that JD and Ira best exist in.
The very interesting thing about this work is that it is a study in improv and variation by players that are extremely adept at the craft. It allows the listener into the improv-compositional minds and spirits of the players, as you listen to them change-up the themes, styles and rhythms on the fly.
