Beethoven String Quartet No. 11
Beethoven String Quartet No. 11 This is an inspiring performance by Ben Beilman - violin, Barbora Kolárová - violin, Milena Pajaro van de Stadt - viola and Camden Shaw - cello, a brilliant group of players from the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, USA. This is a wonderful studio performance and a must hear. This was captured in an intimate acoustic environment on April 21, 2008 using only two microphones and with no equalization or dynamic devices. This album includes only the one work, one of the shorter quartets in the chamber music repertoire, and is priced accordingly.

We continue to create and share recordings that convey the inner voice of the composer and the players by capturing detail of the rich texture of the sound of the wood of the instruments and the acoustic space they’re played in with intimacy not available in concert hall performance. The distance away from the stage and the often reverberant quality of such an environment, can smear the rich, delicate tone from fine wooden musical instruments.

"I listened to the discs and enjoyed the excellent sonics and musicianship. The playing on the Beethoven is beautiful and the recording is unlike any space I have heard before - like hearing it played in a small living room space, up close and personal. Very involving and tactile."
Nelson Brill - Music Reviewer, The Stereo Times

"I listened to the (string quartet) recording and the realism is striking, almost frightening in its clarity. Audiophiles must love it when they hear a performance like this on their heavy artillery."
Robert Fitzpatrick, Dean of the Curtis Institute of Music, Philadelphia

"I listened to the recording and I was honestly blown away."
Ben Beilman - having heard this recording of the string quartet he plays with.

"I have truly enjoyed the (Beethoven String Quartet) recording. It is preferable, in my view, to have a close mix of chamber music. This gives a strong presence to the music.
You have achieved this in an excellent way in the present recording. The timber of the instruments is clear and present, and I perceive to be situated very close to the musicians.
Of course, this also gives a transparency that is very challenging for the musicians; every detail of their playing is fully available to the listeners, and any flaw in the playing is exposed.
I am fully satisfied with your recording.
Thanks for your responses and good service.
I am looking forward to new recordings made available by you in the future. I sincerely believe you are in the front line of an evolution into online distribution of high quality recordings.
I will also make certain to promote your site in the Linn discussion forum, where I know there are a number of people trawling the Internet for recordings with a quality that 'match their equipment.'"
